It was a great experience working with coronation,trainings went smoothly because people enjoyed learning and wanted more. After every session I had learners appreciated the information they recieved , and that makes me happy.
CORONATION PROJECT: Since the beginning of the project I have Facilitated 12 sessions, 10 of them with Taxi Drivers in Alexandra and the other 2 with a group of Care Givers in Edenvale who had completed their training program and Young men belonging to the Alexandra Football Association on the verge of being professional footballers. All three groups appreciated and were excited about the program and expressed gratitude towards the sponsors for opening their eyes about the importance of money management in totality as espoused by the program. Personally the program entrenched its importance and validity to my affairs relating to finances. I have started various money saving and investment vehicles for various goals and so far i am on the right track.
I had a an interesting exposure. As a new trainer. Recruiting was a beat challenging but through the support I got from experienced trainers,I manage to get it right. The community was very excited and they took part in all the sessions that I had. Thank you for much to the Oops team for giving me the necessary support. Regards to all who made this training a success.
The Coronation trainings had more positives than negatives for me as a trainer.I believe though that the negatives or rather struggles are the ones one need to dwell on so that repetitions can be minimized.So many mistakes in the registers by learners have made me realize aneed to do it otherwise.A need for one individual to write the register.Securing venues was also a struggle in some instances but this was highly minimal.Some learners arriving nearly one and half hour after training had begun. There were successes in as far as securing learners for a session was concerned.There is always room for improvement though.The passion for facilitation seems to have returned and this rubs off on the attitudes of the learners as they can read your mood during the session and you get maximum participation from them
The trainnings impacted in my life in so many ways that i had not imagine.Being a Trainer for more that 4 years has really been a great and challenging journey i must say.it has been a learning curve that one really appreciate as from the point im standing, proud to say its has indeed sharpened my tools of anaysis..the way i view the world and greatly help me to deepen my understaing on how the finacial world works. Organinsing and Trainning I must say it wasn't easy to recruit and get to train and get to train as schedule.Timing or the season made it highly challenging beacause people or stakerholder are closing shops or are in the festive mood. That is when i realised that building realationship its very important. In few months that we started with the project...i must say im proud to say most of the people ive trained really aprreciated the efforts of Avovision to bring education which really talks to the really the find themselves in.Mining communities with lots of opportunities not utilized are now adamant that they a ready to face and are in position to make informed finacial decision about they finances . I was able to train the following groups: Affected minning communities around Mogalakwena Community home based care centres REDCROSS peer educations and staff SANTA care workers Through it all i learned that change is inevitable...Haikhona guys ..Social collective really humbled me to the core.The challagees ive had to deal with regarding subbmissioms,was at times frustrating but hey...i got to up my game and have patience to get to understand the system. HO STAFF Your support guys really kept ne going even when i felt frustrated ke Social Collective..Without you i wouldn't have work to produce. The men of the Ark, although these men were mostly receiving a social grant and some aged. They grabbed onto the goal setting and planning for the future, even if it isn't for them. The discussion around credit and your rights around credit was a topic that grabbed all their attention as the more senior men didn't know some of the rights they have around credit and what they should do.
My class at the CWA was great, even though the turnout wasn't great. The guys grabbed the information with open minds and hearts. I could not have asked for more of any group. Thanks CWA
For my community this training came handy as they were financial blinded they could not tell between bank accounts , they taught budgeting is to write a list of groceries when doing shopping . When coming to credit when doing credit display part they could not believe how much they giving up so we all agreed to start saving towards our goals , they really associate with the programmes modules and their daily lives .In one session we were brought to tears by an 16 yrs old Lindokuhle who said in his 3-5 yrs saving he wants to save his pocket money to help the most disadvantaged to continue schooling . For myself it really sadened me learning that my communities are so much in credit and they see credit as an only option to life and that they do not ask questions in places like banks and furniture stores as they are afraid of to upset educated people so they end up paying the price .
My training session were exciting i learned more when different age groups are in the same session usually the older generation will be angry with the young ones when it comes to the need and wants, there will be disagreement especially with the technology like cellphones, television and owing your own car
